  6. This is a replacement for the jfif.datatype included in the
  7. picture.datatype v43 distribution.

  9. It is based on the latest IJG JFIF sources. So it supports
  10. progressive jpeg-decoding and more. It seems to be a little
  11. faster than the old Tower-Codec. But this has never been
  12. tested by me.

  14. I've written this datatype because of more and more progressive
  15. jpeg-images appear in HTML-documents.

  17. Another source of motivation was the "mini-war" which was
  18. introduced by Ralph Schmidt who don't like our ProBench V3.0 to
  19. simulate cybergfx-api calls. He forbids the usage of his datatype
  20. together with our Merlin-Software. So I decided to be the nice
  21. guy who does some work to support a software he isn't allowed to
  22. use with his system.
